Schools and Districts

Partner with the A3WP to create professional development for your teachers

Customized Professional Development

A3WP’s professional development programs are designed to address the unique interests and needs of individual schools, districts, community colleges and universities seeking support in the teaching of writing (Pre-K to University)

Teachers-Teaching-Teachers Model

A3WP workshops are led by experienced classroom teachers who have used research-based and classroom proven practices.

Workshop Options

A3WP promotes multiple sessions, preferably across a semester or year, so teachers have time to try new practices and come to subsequent sessions sharing results of implementation. Workshops are best structured as half-day or full-day sessions and can be combined with periodic PD meetings. In addition, A3WP offers one-on-one coaching or meetings with small cohorts of teachers, which may supplement larger workshops.

We offer back-to-school institutes with time built-in for teacher planning for the new year, as well as end-of-year institutes with time for reflection, sharing of student work, and planning for the year ahead.

Potential topics include:

  • Writing to meet and exceed CCCS across the curriculum
  • Connecting Common Core text types with real-world genres
  • Writing for authentic audiences and purposes
  • Cultivating a community of writers through Writers’ Workshop
  • Using best practices in assignment design
  • Utilizing writing assessment tools to guide instruction
  • Supporting English language learners
  • Digital literacy and multimodal composing

Online Programs

A3WP offers online workshops (via Zoom), maintaining the same high-quality deliveries, but with adjusted scheduling to accommodate teacher availability and preferences.
