Hey Mom, Listen to This!: Making Non-Fiction Writing a Personal Experience (K-2)

Make your next Open House an event to remember. Participants will learn effective strategies for beginning writers to showcase their skills. Many non-fiction writing ideas will be shared as well as techniques for students to take ownership of their own learning. Learn how to manage an interactive Open House experience where students are the stars!
Writing Wonders: Summary (Grades 3-7)

This workshop focuses on developing summary writing. It provides excellent tools and strategies for teachers to implement immediately with their students. Participants should come prepared to cultivate the writer within and explore best practices within their classrooms.
Talking Textual Evidence with Middle School Students (Grades 6-9)

During this active workshop, participants will discover strategies to help students incorporate textual evidence into their academic writing. Using color coding, text logs, mini-lessons, analogies, quote shopping, peer-response and much more, the task of finding and analyzing those quotes won't seem quite so daunting to students or teachers. Participants will leave the workshop with activities they can take into their classrooms the next day!
Overcoming Analysis Paralysis (Grades 9-12)

Learn to scaffold instruction so that students effectively embed quotes (or any kind of evidence) into their research, and then provide analysis that gives everything relevance. By utilizing scaffolding tools, this process reinforces the development of each student’s voice incorporated with the voice of the research.
*Upon request, we will provide documentation for 2.25 hours of professional growth.
